Report that White Lion is to reopen

Chatbox readers and our growing number of Twitter followers may have seen the following post from Lord Royden with some excellent news for the current Cheshire Village of the Year, Hankelow. He said:

"Just thought you might like to know that Hankelow is getting its pub back. A very nice couple have taken on the challenge and are re-establishing it as the White Lion.

They are already in the hotel and catering business and are determined to bring it back to life. They see it as a project so don't expect miracles overnight!

"And to think when you stagger out the front door you won't get knocked down by speeding motorists*! Watch this space."

*Hopefully, this will not kick off another lengthy debate about the new 30mph speed limit!
