As reported yesterday when we announced repairs were to take pace that day on Audlem's potholes, the good news is that a team of road repairers did turn up.

The bad news is summed up by this email that went off last night to a senior Highways officer at Cheshire East from local campaigner Peter Oxley:-

"I am somewhat dismayed to note that just 4 out of the 13 faults I reported have been tackled today.

"The standard of some of the repairs is so poor as to border on the worthless, with a great variety of quality of both tarmac and finishing. The horrible surface just west of the Combermere Arms pub has not been tackled, though two holes further up have.

"And none of the faults between First Dig lane and Audlem have been addressed.

"After reading the news today of the pay-off of your council's chief executive, no one has any patience for funding-related excuses, so please do not even mention this again.

"Please come back to me ASAP as to when these issues will be addressed or we will have no option but to go to the press as our patience is now expired!

"Just get these dangerous road faults fixed urgently, as is your statutory obligation."

Let's trust that there will be an appropriate response and Cheshire East will be back in the area repairing what, in many cases, are dangerous road surfaces for car drivers, motor cyclists and cyclists.
