Come and find out about renewable energy, climate change and the environmental issues now facing us at the Lord Combermere tonight (26th January) at 7.00pm. The company giving the presentation is a local (Newcastle, Staffs) company working in partnership with Retherm Ltd within the renewable energy market, having installed over 100 new heat pumps during 2009

The talk starts with a short 5 minute film made by Cambridge professor David Mackay, who is now chief scientific advisor to the government. He spells out in simple terms the scale of the problem in order to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels. There will then be a power point presentation highlighting the technical difficulties facing renewable energies and how they may be overcome

There will a description of some installations of ground source and air source heat pumps, describing how they work and the practical issues involved in installation. There will also be some information about grants and interest-free loans available.

Allowing for some questions and answers at the end, the talk should last for about 50 minutes or so

There will also be some 'snacks and nibbles' for attendees and if the climate change prospects get too much for you to face, you can always drown your sorrows afterwards at the bar.
