As many of our readers will be aware, the ragwort in the Turnpike field has run amok this year and we have a massive job on our hands to clear it. We are extremely grateful for the volunteer help so far but it is a time-consuming job.
More work is needed on the top field, so as many people as possible would be GREATLY appreciated at the following times during this coming week.
The Green Lane gate will be open again for vehicles, so meet there at the start time, or come and find us of you're joining us later
Please bring garden forks, gloves, long sleeves and vis-vests if you have one. If you own or can borrow a ragwort fork that reduces the effort. Also wheelbarrows to move the plants to the tip area of the field. AND don't forget a drink, it's thirsty work
Ragwort is only mildly poisonous and does not pose any significant risk from handling the plant, either from its pollen or from being contact with it. However, the less time handling it the better.
