Dear Editor

I just wanted to make you aware of this BBC report about Cheshire Constabulary reducing PCSO s from 87 to 27.

What effect will this have on Audlem, an area of low crime where when the cut is made, could be considered an area where the loss of a PCSO would have the least effect!

The justification as being reported is fundamentally flawed as they want to save £13m over 4 years whilst meeting the publics desire to have more police on the streets. The sums don t add up as we will have 60 less bobbies on the beat because it s hard to see the police can take that many officers out of their police stations and put them on the streets, particularly Audlem.

Are those 60 officers, at present, just sitting in their police stations waiting for the phone to ring, if so why are they not already out on the streets. It 's difficult to see Cheshire Police having 60 officers just waiting to take over the important job PCSO s already do.

I think the residents of Audlem may have a view on this! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cz919229yw4o?app-referrer=deep-link
