Suzanne Baxter writes: "Audlem Scout and Guide Hall Committee would like to thank the local community yet again for putting out thier Christmas tree's on the weekend of the 4th and 5th of January. This year's total was slightly down on previous year's but we still managed to raise the amazing sum of approximately £300.

"Our sincere thanks go out to our usual helper's who are too numerous to mention. It is amazing each year to see children turn up to help even when they have left brownies, cubs and scouts. The joy on their faces when they spot a tree for collection is lovely to see.

"We shall be recycling trees again after this forthcoming Christmas and would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy New Year – and thank you once again.
