Since Audlem Online's redesign at the start of May, we are pleased to report that the number of readers visiting the website has increased significantly.

The number of visitors* in July was 15,371, a smidgen under 500 people a day. That's an increase of over 20% on the June figure and well over twice the monthly readership before the redesign. Up until April, a typical month's readership was between 6,000 and 7,000.

We reckon that some of July's gain has been down to the near incessant rain in recent weeks with few competing attractions out-doors. We are, however, very grateful for the interest in Audlem Online and hope that new features, such as the Picture Slide Puzzle launched yesterday, will add to the appeal.

Another new section is the 'Historical Sources' section – click on 'Heritage' on the top bar. This gives details of the local entry in the Domesday Book; Church records and a link to the fascinating Tithe Maps from the Cheshire Records Office where you can compare the maps from 1836-51 for individual properties with modern maps.

*A visitor is defined as the user of an individual computer visiting in a day. Those that visit more than once in the day are still counted as just one visitor.
