13 Ramblers enjoyed a 5 mile walk on a very cold but beautifully sunny day at Apedale country . The walk started at Apedale Heritage Centre.
On the walk we enjoyed some great views and fascinating industrial and geological landscapes. Passing Apedale outcrop, standing in the mouth of Apedale volcano, a restored chimney and a mining memorial gave us views as far as the Roaches and Cannock Chase.
For anyone interested ,there are tours from the centre of the disused mine workings and a small mining museum, next door is the Apedale valley light railway (A 2.0 gauge railway operated by the Moseley Railway trust).
