The ceremony took place on November 7th at Tatton Park, performed on behalf of the Queen by HM Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire, Mr David Briggs MBE.
Ralph's description of the event –
I was invited to attend Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire to become a member of the Order of British Empire and to receive my medal from him on behalf of The Queen.
The ceremony took place on November 7th in the Great Hall of Tatton Park and we were a group of 5 in all being granted such honour. Four men and one woman.
The Lord-Lieutenant read out the citation for me of the works I have enjoyed being part of here in Audlem. This briefing and citation he had taken from information supplied to the Cabinet Office of the Prime Minister by three very fine ladies, in close collaboration with my son, Jonathan. I thank most publicly Ronnie Briggs, Helen Lloyd and Stephanie Richards for all the time and effort they expended in putting me forward for such an award.
I shall treasure my medal and honour for all time and carry on doing what I am able to further enhance this wonderful community that we have here and hereabouts.
My sincere thanks to all who have wished me well.
