Rain completely washed out both of Saturday's league matches for Audlem's cricketers, but the Sunday team won a close friendly game against visitors Wythenshawe by just five runs.

Batting first, Audlem amassed 163 runs in their 40 overs. Carl Palmer top scored with 58 and he was well supported by Ian Howell who chipped in with 38.

The visitors were always going to pose a threat with a strong batting line up, but Audlem received a welcome fillip when Wythenshawe's Australian professional was out second ball, clean bowled by Howell. Wythenshawe fought back and, with six of their forty overs to go, required 25 runs with the last pair at the wicket. They scored twenty runs off the thirty-fifth over to put themselves in the driving seat. They hadn't reckoned with Palmer, however, who, in the next over, rounded off a great day by bowling the visitors' last man with the score on 158. Lyndon Woodcock was Audlem's top wicket taker with 4 for 41.

On Saturday, Audlem's 1st XI is at home to Mossley, whilst the 2nd XI travels to Northwich. Both games start at 2 pm.
