Yesterday, I was able to announce the news that the Big Charity Quiz Night at The Lord Combermere had raised the amazing sum of £4,915 for Mend our Mum.

I am delighted to announce now that the sum has grown to over £5,300 – all raised thanks to the generous lots offered for the auction and the raffle, a fantastic result.

Lot after lot went under the hammer, once all had had their fill of the splendid food on offer.

More cheques and cash have come to me following my report of the night. I have even had letters from people as far south as Hampshire and Cornwall enclosing donations.

Yesterday I had to go for a blood test and as the medico was taking it, she asked was I the Ralph Warburton who was part of the team in Audlem – and then proceeded to give me £10 to the cause!
A new form of "blood money".

I am happy – nay , delighted – to say that the total for the night has now passed £5300! A record for such a night for a great cause.

Such wonderful people. What a place this lovely village is.

DVDs sales keep growing. Do get your copy or copies. A great piece of Audlem History , and copies of the massed singing on the church bank are on sale in the Lord C for just £2.

My sincere thanks for all who made the night possible:

  • To Brittany Wright for her great selling of Raffle Tickets
  • To Bob McClintock for his superb work on the night
  • To Mike Haines as joint quiz master
  • To Jo & Allan, our so wonderful hosts at the Lord C
  • To the Very Talented Auctioneer, Charlie Foyle
  • To all those who so very kindly gave me the auction lots and raffle prizes
  • And to all who came and bid for the lots on offer.

A superb night for a very noble cause.
