The week may have started with blackouts for almost 24 hours in the centre of the village but everything has definitely brightened up since! Almost 50 Christmas trees, including the superb tree in the Square, have been illuminated by ADAS; the Audlem Festival brought two fabulous bands to the village for the Winter Blues concert last Saturday; societies such as the History Society, Probus and ARS (Audlem Ramblers Society) have held successful and well attended events; there's been a cheese tasting in St James' starring, very bravely, Stinking Bishop and there's been Christmas Fayres at St James' school and Corbrook Court.

The Parish Plan, produced by 30 volunteers, has been distributed to every home in Audlem parish; there's been a Borough planning committee visit to look at Audlem's most controversial development in years and, to top it all, Audlem won the national Village of the Year award from Defra for 'Building Community Life' and was voted best village in the North of England for two other awards announced in London on Tuesday. And Santa's here in the village for three nights this weekend.

Apart from all that, it's been a quietish week for Audlem. But then, it usually is in December!
