A new feature of village life is a series of information screens which have been installed in various places around the village over the last couple of weeks. Each of them consists of a TV screen driven by a tiny computer which connects to the internet and retrieves text, photographs and videos from AudlemOnline.

These mini-computers have been supplied by local online media company ThenMedia Ltd, who also provide the technology behind AudlemOnline and have created websites and systems for many local businesses and organisations.

The prime purpose of these screens is to provide visual information about village activities for those who might not have access to computers, internet or AudlemOnline. Six units have been installed so far. One at each of the three pubs, one at the Post Office, one at the Mill Shop and one at Overwater Marina.

The actual information displayed is potentially different on each screen, although for the moment they are largely concentrating on the Audlem Festival later this month.
