Plans for a multi-use Annexe for Audlem Public Hall now reach an important stage when households in Audlem, Buerton and Hankelow, will receive a questionnaire requesting resident's views and support for the project.
The need for better facilities for sport and recreation was established in the 2005 and 2010 Parish Plans but now needs to be confirmed so that the APHAx committee can proceed with funding applications.
A number of village organisations have come together under the umbrella of the Public Hall Annexe committee (APHAx)
In addition the Medical Practice advises that the extra space that could be provided for health related therapies and consultations locally would complement their services in Audlem.
APHAx have the support of Audlem Parish Council and Cheshire East has agreed to transfer the land for a nominal sum.
Funding of £23000 has been achieved from the Homes and Communities Association (HCA) and discussions with the Big Lottery have confirmed eligibility for their Reaching Communities Buildings Fund.
However all funders require evidence that there is a need for the project and that it has the support of the community. The people who are involved in the village organisations are convinced that they need these facilities and now ask residents to back them.
There is no doubt that obtaining funding is very competitive e.g. only 20% of applications get through Stage 1 of the Big Lottery. We are convinced that the current plan represents the best opportunity for a decade to improve Audlems recreation and sport facilities.
Please indicate your support by completing and returning the questionnaire to the Post Office, Williams' newsagents or any member of the APHAx committee – it really will make a difference and help us to achieve success
