To quote (or probably misquote) a famous Englishman "It is not the end; it is not even the beginning of the end; but it is perhaps the end of the beginning"
The prospects for the proposed Annexe to the Public Hall becoming a reality took a major step forward when APHAx (the Public Hall Annexe Committee) was told yesterday that its bid for Big Lottery funding has passed successfully through the first stage of the process.
It is our understanding that only a small proportion of projects (perhaps less than a quarter) make it past this first stage and the proportion of bids that get through the second stage is much higher.
So now the real work starts – the Stage two bid is more detailed and more demanding. We will be meeting our architect, Martin Greenwood of Bower Edleston, later this month to consider the detailed drawings he has been preparing for a planning application.
We have to complete the Stage two application by mid-February 2015.
The next key date after this would be June 2015 when would know the outcome of the Stage two bid and, if successful, from then on we would be working with the Big Lottery Fund to bring the project to conclusion ready for a Grand Opening in June 2016.
