Audlem 1st XI's dream of promotion to Division 1 of the Cheshire Cricket Alliance is over for another season as they lost at Ellesmere Port yesterday by six wickets.

In a game where the team that won the toss was almost certain to win, unfortunately skipper Chris Shenton made the wrong call. As a result Audlem were put in to bat on a wet wicket that was bound to favour the bowlers.

On a grey day on a ground with no sightscreens, Audlem succumbed to Port's bowling and were skittled out for just 42. The home team then had the luxury of being able to take chances with the bat to overcome the low score.

Kemal Toraman took four wickets, but to no avail as Ellesmere Port scored the necessary runs to win and gain promotion themselves.
