Here we are on this Sunday the 9th. Easter Sunday and a hope that all had a happy Easter . Do you know that some £80 million is spent on eggs -- costing £460 million. Add to that all the cardboard wrapping etc.
Holidays -- in the UK about 6.5 million here , and abroad about 4.5 million . And being out of the EU makes for far less smooth getting over the channel .
But. Match of the Day. No footage of my team, Liverpool as they play this day . And magic of magic, Gary Lineker back in the chair . And City march on with that goal machine Haaland back -- doing what he does so very well.
Springtime
Wherever we drive , ride or walk now ,we see those glorious yellow daffodil trumpets- nodding in the breeze. Highways, , hedgerows ,park areas and gardens . Did you ever stop to think how this lovely flower developed . So I thought . Have a bit of a look see. Way back in the Oligocene period of life on earth , about 33 million years ago, there were signs of such bulbs . This after the age of the dinosaurs, who roamed these lands some 250 million years ago and were wiped out about 150 millions years ago. But as they lived, there had to be much grazing for them ,as the leaf eaters fed all vegetation and the meat eaters then ate them. And the flowers must have been developing then , or after the age of the dinosaur. Nearer to our year, daffodils became endemic in the Iberian peninsula and as was often the case, the Dutch developed the bulbs further, as they did so well with the tulip. Turkey was also a place where wild daffodils were found. And now we enjoy the sight of them -- trumpeting the arrival of spring . And the King Alfred daffodil is such a well named flower. Long May we enjoy their simple beauty. Easter and I have ensured all my bouquets and eggs etc sent off in good time .
Match of the day. And I read that Gary Lineker has hinted he may be past his sell by date of MOTD. We shall see.
Our game Sunday. Easter Sunday. Playing away versus Cooper Buckley .
Referee is Keith Curzon. In the glorious weather , water bottles were well to the fore. Good turnout of players, so if all arrived, we had a good squad to face a strong team.
Manager Kev is full of pride he has in his team, Sheffield Utd who look certain to be promoted and who are at Wembley on the 22nd.
We play at the Barony pitch . In Nantwich .
Kick off at 1100 as the bells of St Mary's in the town centre fall silent on this most holy of days in the churches year.
(Lee Martin, one of main sponsors and chief scout of Audlem Saints FC is there and feeding me with running commentary . On that note I feel I am coming out of a very black time of pain and hoe I will be back on the sidelines for our next home match .)
1103
And Coper B score
O-1 but disallowed as offside
We attack after y mins but no goal. 1112
CB score again with simple tap in
0-1
Free kick awarded to opponents but their shot goes over the bar.
1122
A push over in the box by CB but referee ignores it .
We are getting better after a poor start.
Then . Wham bang .CB score
0-2
Number 9 of CB booked . Dissent with Skipper Kev. He , Kev , gets a lecture .
We have Andrew (Beco) in goal as number one keeper not with us . Top scorer Nick Gregory away too.
Half time.
Restart, and fine shot by Shea Bebbibgton is saved. Corner to us met by Ross Henderson but his header sails over the bar .
1200
CB ball into our box. A simple tap in and they score
0-3
And this after we have been showing much promise .
0-4,
Game getting scrappy and nigardly. Free kicks but too many fouls given away. Head still high as we push and push.
1215

Another hammering I fear.

1239
Then ref awards a penalty . To us and we score. Shea Bebbington
1-5,
Some pride restored .
Game over .
Now that one of our sponsors, the Lamb at Nantwich, is fully reopened after a major refurbishment and added rooms, the team go there after the game for their excellent chips and repast . And many lagers of course.
Next game and we are away to Willaston White Star.
