Fourteen Stalwarts from the Audlem and District Probus Club walking group set out on a beautiful sunny morning last Monday . It was described as a 4 mile walk, around Wrinehiil along lanes, fields and some stiles.
Actually that was to understate the walk which had something of everything.
Up hill and down dale through grassy fields, some with heiffers, some with just cowpats. – through Wheat and Barley. We went over maybe 15 stiles – including some doubles and one triple and rickety bridges over streams.
But our leader, Bob Godwin, had more for us – 45 minutes of rain then a trek through a wood with shoulder high undergrowth followed by waist high grass and thistles on a steep slope – and he slipped in an extra mile to make it 5 milles!
The Hand and Trumpet refreshments and lunch were more than welcome. A great walk but we were expecting an SAS training award at the end!
Many Thanks Bob – you did a great job guiding us through.
