Central Audlem had its electricity restored around 9.00pm last night. Some (including the writer of this news story) were without power for 23 hours. Businesses such as the Old Priest House, lost a complete days trade, while others including Williams' newsagents, the Village Store, the Salad Bowl and the Kebab and Pizza shop were powerless for some of the time.
A team from Scottish Power had to dig down at the top of Vicarage Lane for much of the day in very wet conditions. As well as a fuse in a substation that started the problem, Scottish Power mentioned a problem with traffic lights. If so, the only culprit could be the controversial flashing lights in Stafford Street. The A525 strikes again!
