On Wednesday morning, 17th March, Cheshire Police and Fire service held a joint action morning in Audlem.

Six police officers were positioned at various points around the village checking for motorists committing speeding offences, failing to wear seat belts or using mobile phones whilst driving.

Anyone found committing an offence was told that, as an alternative to a fixed penalty notice, they could attend immediately at Audlem fire station where they would be shown a driver safety presentation by fire service staff.

At the end of the presentation, the subjects were asked to complete a short questionnaire, and the fire officers reported a very positive response to their presentation.

A total of ten people were found to be committing offences. Of these only one declined to attend the presentation and accepted a fixed penalty notice instead.
