(The website link that was here no longer works) The Lord Combermere, in Audlem village centre, has put in for planning permission for five hotel rooms. If granted, Audlem could have its first hotel rooms in many years by as soon as late summer this year.
The rooms will be in the wing above the restaurant and will all be very comfortable double rooms, with en-suite facilities, with a target rate of around £60 a night per room. Steve Nash of the Lord Combermere said last night: "The rooms will be a real boost for the village attracting those looking to visit Audlem, whether as tourists, seeing friends and family or on business."
The news follows other recent developments for Audlem's businesses with the planned re-opening of the Canal Shop at Easter; the recent successful sale as a going concern of the Salad Bowl; the opening of the animal feeds shop in the Square as well as the major refurbishments of both the Public Hall and the Scout & Guide Hall.
