Steve Allcock, projects manager at Scottish Power, attended Monday's Audlem Parish Council meeting.

He described planned work to councillors which will see the replacement of overhead conductors and poles and the installation of fully insulated cables in areas in and around Audlem.

The areas affected will include stretches of Whitchurch Road, a line out to Kynsal Lodge and a number of farm areas.

There will be some electricity outages during the work – although these are unlikely at weekends – and traffic disruption with two-way traffic lights and possible road closures on narrower lanes.

Given the lengthy period necessary to fully assess, cost and award contracts, work is unlikely to start before the second half of January 2013.

Scottish Power have said they will keep Audlem Online fully informed so there should be plenty of advance warning of planned work and possible traffic disruption.
