People are Awesome!

Having spent the last few days luxuriating in the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coastal areas around Saundersfoot, courtesy of a surprise Xmas present from my son and his wife – finally payback time – we came across an amazing and dedicated chap named Wayne Russell.

He was taking a break from carrying a 23 kilogram backpack, with all the worldly goods he would need, including a one man tent, to run around the whole coast of Great Britain!

Having started in London in September he had run through almost continual rain but was amazed by the generosity of people who had fed him, donated money and sometimes given him a bed for the night.

When we met him he had finally reached Wiseman's Bridge, before carrying on running to Tenby.

The reason he was running the length of the British Coast was to raise awareness and money for 'The Superhero Foundation' who had paid for his sister, Carmel Webb, to go to America for a heart operation which was not available in this country.

There was no way that his family could afford the costs involved, but this foundation had stumped up the money to enable Carmel to have the operation.

Sadly, Carmel died, but Wayne is determined to pay them back as much money as he can raise in order to help others.

Jon and I told him about our village and how we had raised £100,000 for the Mend our Mum campaign. we left him with a donation, but coming from such a vibrant village felt we should do more!

Wayne is hoping to raise £25,000 in total and I have included his Facebook link below so that anyone who would like to read his story and/or donate can do so. Also if you know anyone who lives on the coastal route, show them Wayne's link as he deserves all the help he can get and I'm sure he would appreciate a hot meal or bed for the night!
