Mary Aston

I lost my beautiful wife, Mary, to Motor Neurone Disease on Wednesday 6th following a tough couple of weeks with breathing difficulties.

She lost her fight but was at home with family and passed peacefully. It's almost 3 years to the day that she was first diagnosed, although suffering symptoms from Sept 2017.
She fought the disease bravely and in an effort to strike back at it volunteered for clinical trials at Sheffield and has also donated her brain and spinal cord to them to help progress towards finding a therapy for the benefit of future sufferers -- she was always thinking of others.

I'd like to extend my deep gratitude to Pete Leftwick and all the team at Audlem Medical Practice who have been wonderfully supportive over the last 3 years -- we're truly blessed to have them in our village. I'd also like to extend my thanks to local care company Surecare who looked after my wife at home for the last 6 months -- a wonderful company with lovely caring staff.

After over 48 years together I really don't know how I'm going to cope without her, even in her final days she was witty, upbeat and could still put on a lovely smile. I'll miss her terribly
