The Steering Committee for Audlem's Parish Plan met this morning to review progress on the various ideas the group is working on. They heard about the plans for an expansion of sports facilities and the bids to Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council and Cheshire Community Council already submitted (see 'Articles' below with the article by Roland Hall).

A group has been formed with new volunteers that is looking at footpaths and cycleways while the Planning group is working on the Village Design Statement which describes the character and appearance of the village. Greville Watts, Bill Campbell, Shirley Firth and David Latchford are each working on a quarter of the village. A Parish Landscape Statement will also be prepared as part of this work which will be important in future planning debates.

The Communications group reported on the latest Parish Newsletter, which is being printed at present, and the growth in popularity of Audlem Online. A detailed plan of all possible brown tourist sign locations has also been completed by Bill Slater.

The Youth group has just met and will also be consulted on various plans such as those for sports facilities. The Business and Tourism group is forming the Audlem Traders' Association and circulating tourism information to a range of publications. A group working on the A525 and HGV issues is meeting shortly.

Regular updates on progress will be given on Audlem Online and in the newsletter.
