As AudlemOnline reported on February 2nd Audlem is to be represented on the Cheshire East Joint Implementation Committee (CEJIC) by Allan Richardson, who is Audlem's county councillor and borough councillor. CEJIC is the body that is being formed to work on the transitional arrangements of the new Cheshire East Council.

CEJIC has also asked the Parish Council to nominate a representative to take part in the discussions to set up the new council, which, subject to approval by Parliament, will come into being in April 2009.

At Monday night's meeting, Mike Hill was nominated to represent the Parish Council in these talks. In the submission to the Department for Communities and Local Government there was a clear statement that powers for parish councils would be increased as part of the change from a two-tier system to a unitary authority. Let's hope that this is the beginning of that process.
