Following Thursday night's packed Extraordinary Parish Council meeting to discuss the massive housing proposal at Little Heath, there could be a fascinating Audlem Parish Council meeting this evening at Thornton House in Cheshire Street.

Yes, the proposed residential development is at the top of the agenda which should provide an opportunity for the parish councillors to determine their stance and how to approach the challenge of speculative developers.

Then the redevelopment of Thornton House itself is up for discussion – current plans by Wulvern Housing do not include, we understand, a community facility. The current one is used for the popular Tuesday luncheons and Friday coffee mornings as well as Audlem Parish Council meetings.

An interesting debate could follow about the Playing Field where it is thought proposals may be put forward to take over responsibility for the field, tennis courts, children's play area and car park from Cheshire East Council under its policy of transferring assets to local parish councils.

The meeting starts at 7.30pm and members of the public will be invited to comment on any of the items on the agenda or draw attention to matters of concern before business commences.

The meeting's Agenda can be found by clicking here.
