The full agenda for the Parish Council can be seen here, but a summary of some of the key issues is enclosed.

ADAPT Cycle Racks

Andy Hannah from ADAPT presented proposals for a costed project ( Value £2490) to install cycle racks in four locations around the village namely:

  • On the edge of the playing field near the new Annexe
  • Adjacent to the carpark toilets
  • Between the planters and the Church Wall near Boots the Chemist
  • On land adjacent to the Coop Store

A grant for £500 has been received from Audlem Parish Council and a grant of £1900 is being sought from the Postcode Local Trust, leaving £90 still to be found. ADAPT were seeking agreement from the Parish Council to the siting of the racks in order to go forward with the grant application. The Council agreed in principle to the cycle racks but had some reservations / concerns over some of the proposed sitings which will be followed up in subsequent discussions.

Leasing of the Playing Field Complex

What a sorry story this is. Not only was an opportunity missed to purchase this complex several years ago, agreeing a lease arrangement legally seems to be moving at a snails pace. A recent Rospa risk inspection highlighted some areas which needed attention.

Car Parking Strategy

Following a recent open letter from the Tourism and Traders group, the Paris Council agreed that a sub committee should be set up along the lines of the Neighbourhood Plan group consisting of councillors ,members of the Tourism and Traders group, and other interested /expert parties. A draft Terms of Reference will be drawn up in May.

STOP PRESS.
One of the best options for a carpark has always been on the field adjacent to Green lane near to the village centre. An option to purchase this has never previously been available but the land is now for sale and advertised on the RightMove website.

The land for sale is 11.55 acres and has a guide price of £100,000 – £130,000. The sale is by Informal Tenders which are required to be submitted by the 16th May. Would it be possible for the Tourism and Traders Group or the Parish Council to enter urgent negotiations with the Landowner to determine how this land could be acquired for the village?
