Parish Council bid to find land for allotments

Audlem Parish Council discussed last week the issue of allotments after almost 20 villagers expressed an interest in seeing allotments back in Audlem.

Council clerk Jean White said: "It's up to us but we can go to the Borough Council for funding. We have an obligation to pursue it now we have had a letter." Councillor Bill Consterdine added: "The only allotments in the village used to be behind the fire station. We can only provide the allotments if we have the land. The Parish Council doesn't own any land as such. We should write to them and let them know what we are doing and just tell them it may take some time. It wouldn't go amiss to see if they can find a landowner who may be willing to find a plot of land they can use."

Parish councillors also agreed to invite parishioners to contact the Council if they want allotments.
