The long-serving Clerk to Audlem Parish Council, Jean White, is retiring from her post. We are sure all who know her or have worked with Jean will wish her well.

Audlem Online has contacted Jean, who says: "I've thoroughly enjoyed acting as Clerk to Audlem Parish Council for almost 10 years (starting in October 2002).

"I worked in the NHS previously – in a similar job - so was accustomed to arranging and attending public meetings but the job was still a challenge because of the wide range of topics on every agenda.  Local government legislation is a constant challenge which I won't be sorry to leave to others.

"Highlights have been Audlem's frequent competition wins – Northern Village of the Year, national winner of the "Building Community Life" in 2005, and many smaller victories in the Community Pride annual contests – all due to the efforts and co-operation of so many people in the village.

"I know many Parish Clerks complain about the abuse they sometimes receive but over the past 10 years I have found the manners of Audlem's councillors and residents to be absolutely impeccable!

"Thank you to everyone – Parish Councillors past and present, those involved with the Parish Plan, residents, local club officers, Cheshire East representatives - for making my job interesting and enjoyable.

"Long may Audlem flourish."
