Whilst 2020 has been a somewhat dismal year for many, Overwater Marina, has managed to bring some cheer by celebrating its 10th birthday in a slightly different way.
Janet and Angus Maughan, owners of the marina, had intended to run a number of social events to celebrate, but as with many things Covid-19 caused a rethink. Instead, the marina created a ten-monthly prize-draw and throughout the year Overwater has given away a range of gifts to moorers, with names being drawn out of the hat.
Gifts have included
culminating at Christmas with a year's free mooring, drawn on Christmas Eve by Janet Maughan and Marina Manager David Johnson.
Janet Maughan says "We were so upset not to be able to celebrate our anniversary with our moorers, so the idea of the ten-month giveaway seemed to be a lovely way to give something back. We are delighted to congratulate Steve and Jenny King from Norfolk who are the lucky recipients of our grand finale prize of a year's free mooring – we were thrilled to be able to give them such a fabulous early Christmas present!"
Steve and Jenny King say "As the incredibly lucky winners of Overwater Marina 10th anniversary draw of a year's free mooring, we both wish to say a special thank you to Angus and Janet for their kind generosity in donating this exceptional prize, as with all the other prizes that were given to moorers during 2020.
We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate them on this special anniversary and for creating such an exceptional, stunning, beautiful marina – the management and staff are very dedicated, and nothing seems too much trouble – always there to help and advise, including the staff in the workshop. This has been such a difficult time for us all and the staff have gone that extra mile to make sure boaters are all safe and happy."
