As regular readers will know, AudlemOnline editor's favourite day of the year is 1st April.
This year, however, the other three webteam members want a 'Fool-free' day as they believe the stream of spoof stories that have filled the website's April Fool's Day news coverage for years has gone too far.
As many will be aware, as the editor has been convalescing in recent months from an operation, the rest of the team has taken over editorship on many occasions. This year they decided to suspend the editor's access to the control system for a time leading up to today to prevent him posting his normal plethora of seasonal nonsense.
Fortunately, this will not prevent him, like all our readers, accessing the day's readership figures which are updated every hour at the bottom of the Homepage and to which he has become addicted.
The webteam therefore apologises to all those readers who have sent in April Fool suggestions, particularly Judy Evans and Ian Hallett. We are sure they will all be used in the future when the editor is back to full fitness and we will be unable to hold him back.
In the meantime, enjoy the rest of today's news safe in the understanding that it's more genuine than normal on this particular day of the year – at least we hope so.
