The next meeting of Audlem and District History Society will be held this coming Thursday, 21stApril, at 7.30pm. in the Scout and Guide Hall.

The topic this month is entitled : The Building of the Manchester Ship Canal, and will be presented by 2 speakers, Bob Cannell and Les Green. (Those who attended the Zoom meeting last year, entitled “The Danny”, will be familiar with the presentation format, which was very successful).

The talk tells the history of the building of the Canal, the people who worked on it, the ships that sailed up it, some of the incidents that occurred, and some strange visitors to it. It sounds both intriguing and fascinating.

All are very welcome to our talk, including non-members. Visitors are asked to pay £3 at the door.
