The next AWEG meeting is on 14th October at 7pm in the Methodist Hall.
Our speakers this month are Stuart and Lynne Bruce who will be talking about the unique wildlife and habitats of the Galapagos Islands following their visit in 2024. We will hear about the spectacular birds, close encounters with marine and land animals (many of which are found only in these remote islands) and how the impacts of tourism are managed. T
here is of course a local connection as Charles Darwin, who made the Galapagos Islands famous, was born in Shrewsbury.
The talk will also briefly cover places visited in Peru and mainland Ecuador including a rainforest high in the Andes with colourful plants, birdlife, tree frogs, mammals, butterflies, snakes, large spiders and a lot of rain!
Under 16s are welcome if accompanied.
