Business question to Minister

Earlier this month I asked the Business Under-Secretary Kelly Tolhurst MP what support there is for women looking to start up a business.

The Government has supported a Start Up Loan company which has given out nearly £450 million worth of credit to new businesses across the country, of which 40% were women. There are also 38 growth hubs across England that are providing support to people starting their new business.

NFU at Conservative Party Conference

This week has been the Conservative Party Conference and I spoke with a number of groups and organisations. One of the groups that had a stall out was the NFU, who were telling people about their Back British Farming campaign.

Unfortunately, I've been ill with pneumonia this week, so on doctors orders I have had to keep my meetings to a minimum.

HS2 salt mines fears raised again.

I have once again raised the problems that HS2 are going to encounter if they build along the route they have adopted through my constituency.

I am very worried that they are not disclosing the appropriate level of technical reports which are required to adopt a properly informed viewpoint. Key information is not being considered by HS2 and the Rail Minister agreed that the tract of land was complex and further assessment is needed to provide proper mitigation's for the risks in the area.
