Food Tasting, Sports Relief and More!

We have been supporting Sport Relief on Friday by taking part in our Active Audlem 250km challenge. We are aiming for the children to collectively run 250km in the afternoon – I am
sure we will have given it a good go!

Our School Council have nominated this charity as our national one to support this year and they have been collecting donations for this worthwhile cause throughout the day. Thank you for all of the donations that have been sent in for this.

Sapphire and Pearl Class were treated to an Indian food tasting session with Mrs Hayward, our School Cook on Tuesday. They sampled a variety of foods and drinks from India as part of their topic on food this term.

Here is what some of the children have to say about this exciting experience:

  • 'We tasted Indian food in Mrs Hayward's kitchen, I liked the Poppadoms' Charlie
  • 'It was the best day of my life! I tried three drinks of Lassi and I loved them!' Harrison
  • 'My favourite was the Poppadoms.' Max
  • 'I enjoyed tasting the dough nuts with honey and spice (Gulab Jamum)' William

Both Amber and Ruby classes welcomed their parents and carers into their classrooms for a shared Literacy lesson as part of our Literacy Coffee Mornings this week. Amber class shared their descriptive skills with their visitors whilst Ruby class held a debate. Feedback from these sessions has been very positive and we intend to plan more opportunities for parents and carers to join us in school in the future.

Our staff and Governors met this week to review our current Strategic School Development Plan. This was a great opportunity for us to reflect on all of the successes and progress we have made this year and for us to work together to identify next steps in school development.

Sporting News

Our netball team represented our school on Wednesday evening. They played Berkley Primary School and managed to win with an impressive 8-0 scoreline. Well done to Mrs Heathcock and the team.

Our Cross Country team travelled with Mr Griffiths to Shavington High School to represent school on Thursday. Well done to everyone who took part and gave such energetic
performances in miserable weather!

Our football team are in action again on Friday against Acton. Good luck to you all!

Don't forget the Dance Finals next Friday (28th March) which we will be taking part in
alongside two other local schools. Tickets are available from Miss Cooper in the School
Office, I hope you will be able to join us for this.

FASA

FASA's Easter fundraising event will take place on Thursday 3rd April after school from 3.15pm – 5pm. A reminder that children are invited to come to school in non-uniform on this day and to donate cakes or chocolate prizes for the Tombola stall.

Don't forget, FASA will also be holding a 'Black and White Glamour Night' at Audlem Public Hall on Friday 9th May from 7.30pm – 12pm. Tickets are now available for this from the FASA team or our School Office.

ABC Childcare

It will be the last messy play session of this half term on Monday 24th March.  After the Easter holidays, ABC's nursery will be open on Mondays and Tuesdays, with the introduction of a new parent and child activity for Wednesdays (TBC).  There are still FREE places available for 3 and 4 year olds.

Also don't forget their breakfast and after school club, which is open during term time. Please call Lynsey on 01270 669050 for more details.

A New Member to our team

We welcome Mrs Howard to our School Office team next week, she will be working on Mondays and Fridays alongside Miss Cooper and I am sure she will be a great asset to this team in school.

Book Fair

Thank you to Mrs Heathcock and her Librarians for organising and running our Book Fair in school. A reminder that the Fair opened yesterday and will run each day after school until Wednesday 26th March. I look forward to seeing many of you there.

Finally, at times throughout the school year, parents and carers may wish to contact our Governors and this should be via our Chair, Janet Furber.  Janet can be contacted by letter via the School Office. Any communication from parents for her attention will then be forwarded directly to her. I trust this information is helpful.
