Active Audlem – Active Minds!

Wednesday morning saw a wonderful turnout of children, staff and relatives completing Active Audlem laps together before school.

It was, as always, a super way to start our school day and it was great to see this important part of our active lifestyles work being so well support by so many people from home. Thanks to everyone who came along.

We have continued to work hard in school this week with lots of exciting learning and topics beginning to show in displays and classrooms in our school. I am sure all that fresh air and exercise on Wednesday helped to increase our brain power too!

Congratulations to William Cole, Ellis Haycock, Tom Teale, Hannah Teale, Owen Lewis, Harry Brookes, Sam Goacher, Max Youle and Marleigh Matravers who all achieved their 10k certificate this week. Tess Crowley and Maddison Matravers who have completed 20k. Well done to you all!

Festival project

The children in Diamond class are taking part in an art project based on aboriginal art for the Audlem Music and Arts Festival to be displayed in the Methodist Church on Saturday 24th, Sunday 25th and Monday 26th of May.

They are working with Christine Johnson creating their own 'masterpieces'. The project consists of artwork using different media in sketchbooks and a large painting that is made up of smaller sections done by every pupil.

The sneak previews I have had show real imagination and care and I am sure they will create a wonderful display for the Festival – please look out for it.

Sports

Our sports teams have had a very busy week with our Football team playing twice and out High 5 team competing in the Crewe and Nantwich Finals.

In football, Mr Griffith's team played Weston at home on Monday and although
they lost 2-0 they worked hard as a team. They were also in action on Wednesday,
away at Stapeley Broad Lane in a match full of goals. They lost 4-2 but again Mr Griffiths was very proud of their team spirit and hard work.

Our High 5 team played an exhausting 6 matches on Tuesday as part of the finals. They came 6th overall and again put in performances that Mrs Heathcock was very proud of.

FASA

Don't forget, FASA's next fundraising event for school will be a 'Black and White Glamour Night' at Audlem Public Hall on Friday 9th May from 7.30pm – 12pm. Tickets are available from the FASA team or our School Office.

FASA will also be holding their annual AGM on 20th May at 2pm in our school hall. Everyone is welcome, please come along if you can.

Thank you for all of the donations you have made to our Rag Bag Bin (situated near our main school gates). If you have any old clothes, shoes or covers that you are happy to donate, please bag them up and put them into the bin. FASA do a great job of converting these donations into money for school which helps us to provide a wide range of curriculum enhancement opportunities for children in our school.

ABC Childcare

ABC offer pre-school sessions for 2 year olds with FREE places available. Contact Family Information Services on 0300 123 5033 to see if your child is eligible for up to 15 hours Free childcare during term time.

There are places still available at their breakfast and afterschool club for children of Audlem St James'. Call 01270 669050 for more information.

Finally

I hope all of our families enjoy a lovely (and hopefully sunny!) Bank Holiday weekend. School reopens on Tuesday 6th May; we look forward to welcoming the children back then. R Jewitt
