Another Busy and Exciting Week in School!

Science Fortnight continued in school this week with our Year 5 and 6 children visiting Keele Observatory as part of their work on space. This is what some of the children had to say about the experience:

  • "It was so interesting, we got to see the Sun and sun spots through an enormous telescope' Sara Warrington 'We learnt fascinating facts about what will happen to the sun in million of years-it will become a Red Giant and then finally explode but we hope all humans will be evacuated to another planet!" Millie Jay Abell
  • "We made a human solar system which was good fun and helped us to memorise the order of the planets. We all want to study Astronomy now!" Toby Riley

Many thanks to FASA who funded this additional activity for the children to further enhance their Science experience allowing us to include it in our plans for Science week at no charge to parents.

All of the children in school took part in a special 'Mad Science' assembly yesterday, they were shown how exciting air can be and took part in some experiments together.

Delamere adventure

Our Year 4 children returned from their Delamere adventure on Tuesday full of exciting
stories about their residential. Miss Johnson, Mrs Johnson and Mr Preston ensured that they packed lots of interesting activities into both days and by the time Mrs Stoker and I visited them at the centre on Monday night, the children were already full of exciting recounts of their visit so far!

They were keen to show me the fantastic dens they had built together, which I have to say were most impressive! Well done to all involved.

Dragon's Den

Mrs Standley and one of our Governors, Tony Dugdale, accompanied some of our Year 4/5 children to a Dragon's Den event at Brine Leas School on Friday morning. The children worked with other Year 5s from schools across the Nantwich Cluster to design, make and pitch their own 'Eco Bags', as part of their Time for Change project. Please look out for a report and photographs from this event on our website soon.

FASA

FASA met on Tuesday to finalise plans for their next fund raiser for school, our Spring Disco. The team have sent out a flier with all the details about this end of half term celebration event this week. Please try to support this if you can.

As well as paying for the Science experience for Years 5 and 6 this week, FASA have also agreed to buying a monitor system for our entrance area which we will be able to use to display children's ICT work and photographs.

This will be a great addition to school and it will be a fantastic way for children to use and develop their skills in this area. Thank you all of the FASA team and our families for supporting the FASA events. Without such tremendous support we would not be able to purchase such wonderful additions to our school resources.

ABC Childcare

A reminder that ABC have extended their services to include Pre School sessions for 2 year olds.

They continue to offer breakfast (8.00am – 8.45am) and after school (from end of school
day to 6pm) care. All of these sessions are held in the ABC building adjacent to school. For more information about any of these services, please contact Lynsey on 01270 669050.

Governor Drop Ins at Parent Teacher Meetings

As last term, some of our Governors will be available to meet and speak to parents and carers at our Parent/Teacher Meetings scheduled to take place next week. These sessions are a chance for you feedback your views on school and also to find out more about the important role Governors play in our school.

I am sending out an update letter about the reconstitution of our Governing Body, which was finalised this week, with this letter. We are lucky to be supported by such a talented and committed team and I hope many of you will be able to take this opportunity to meet and speak with some of them next week.
