Audlem's latest new business will be opening on Saturday. The Coffee Lounge, next to the Salad Bowl, is being officially opened at 2.00pm when there's a chance to look around and sample from the menu. The opening is also providing an opportunity to raise money for a very good cause. Vernon and Debbie won't be charging for drinks etc at the opening event but you can, if you wish, make a donation to Christies.
The Coffee Lounge is very smartly furnished and is in two rooms alongside the existing shop, one looking out on the village centre, the other on to the rear garden. The Coffee Lounge will feature hand-made cakes, sandwiches, quiches, home-made soup, home-made clotted cream scones and a full range of coffees and teas.
Vernon and Debbie Miles took over the Salad Bowl in December last year and were soon planning to have the new business alongside the existing fruit, vegetable and bakery shop and delicatessen. The Coffee Lounge will be a very welcome new addition to Audlem's range of businesses.
The last year has seen the opening of the Animal Feeds shop on the Square and the re-opening of the Canal Shop on Audlem Wharf. The Co-op Village Store will soon be moving to new and larger premises across the road on the completion of Moseley's Yard while the Lord Combermere is planning to add hotel bedrooms following its complete refurbishment just eighteen months ago.
