Besides stocking a very wide range of canal books, Audlem Mill is the home of CanalBookShop, its publishing imprint.
They have just published two canal books, with several more planned over the next few months.
New titles published by Peter Silvester at Audlem Mill are:
- Colours of the Cut is a reprint of Edward Paget-Tomlinson's superb reference book first published in 2004, covering the colour schemes of most canal and inland waterway carriers. The illustrations include a large number of Edward's paintings of boats, plus many black and white photos.
- Cockerel's in the Cut is the autobiographical memoir of former canal boatman John Blunn, who now lives close to the Shropshire Union Canal at Wheaton Aston. John worked for three of the major canal carriers in the 1950s and 1960s: Fellows, Morton & Clayton, Samuel Barlow, and Thomas Clayton, and the book is full of anecdotes and humour, as well as hardship. The title is explained in the book!
The books can be bought at Audlem Mill, or from www.canalbookshop.co.uk
