The 2009 Audlem tea towel is on sale at Williams' newsagents, Audlem Mill and Audlem Post Office. It makes a perfect present, particularly as it's so easy to post.

The design is by local artist Jo Halden, who recently had a display of her paintings in the window at Williams'. It features local scenes that are always associated with the village – the canal and narrow boat art; St James' church; the cock up on the church tower; Holme's Bank; walking and cattle grazing.

The tea towel is made with care in the UK by Countryside Art in Spilsby, Lincolnshire and is 100% colourfast cotton. It's priced at £3.99.

Despite earlier news that the tea towel would include instructions for reluctant users and beginners, these have been omitted as it's been realised that those most likely to need them are precisely those that never read instructions – under any circumstances!

The original work of art by Jo Halden used to produce the tea towel will be available to purchase in the near future.

The previous Audlem tea towel, which has pretty well sold out, featured a painting, Audlemania, by the late Roger Pearce. Audlemania is a montage of the village's finest buildings and was painted in three versions over a period of some years. All three paintings are thought to be owned by local residents.

Will Audlem tea towels, we wonder, become another collectible over the years?
