Neighbours have expressed their disappointment about the decision of the licensing authorities to allow the Audlem Kebab Shop to open until midnight. The authorities did, however, turn down the shop's request to serve food until 1.00am on Friday and Saturday each week although they did give permission to open until 1.00am on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. (It was incorrectly reported in this week's Chronicle that the shop could stay open until 1.00am at weekends).

Neighbours had complained about noise, litter and cooking smells. The shop owners said they did not encourage customers to be noisy.

The shop has to be licensed under new laws that start on 24th November. Under this law, if there is evidence of nuisance or non-compliance with the licence conditions, neighbours of the shop can ask for those conditions to be changed.
