With many locally interested in walking – membership of ARS, the Audlem Ramblers Society grows each year – there may be interest in a Navigation Course now on offer.

Participants can even gain a qualification if they wish – now that would be a badge of honour! But would it be withdrawn, Fred 'the Shred' Goodwin style, if ever you lost your bearings?

The programme includes classroom sessions with tuition to help improve map and compass skills.

That's followed by practice navigation sessions in the countryside finishing with several full 'mountain days' in the Peak District. Participants must be aged 16 or older.

Moorland Adventure are the providers of the National Navigation Award Scheme and you can work towards a bronze or silver NNAS qualification.

Details of the course dates and fees can be found by clicking on the link below the photo. The courses are at Crewe, Macclesfield and Brereton Heath – unfortunately post codes are not given so you can't use your SatNav to find your way there!

To book, ring 01625 383777.
