Words And Music – South Cheshire's new music, poetry and literature event – is back for its second year. From October 8th-11th Nantwich will play host to a wide range of gigs, readings, workshops and sessions.

Following on from the success of it's inaugural year, organisers Nigel Stonier, Thea Gilmore and Claire 'Fluff' Smith have now unveiled the line-up for 2009:

Ian Broudie, the voice and songs of the million selling Lightning Seeds, is to headline with a rare one-off appearance at Malbank Studio Theatre. The writer and singer of hits such as "Lucky You" "Life Of Riley" "Marvellous" and of course the iconic football anthem 'Three Lions" has been enticed over to South Cheshire for a special show in this intimate setting.

Simon Armitage, one of the most highly regarded poets of his generation, will perform a special reading of his work on the Sunday morning at Nantwich Museum.

Thea Gilmore will launch the festival with an acoustic gig at the Crown Ballroom on October 8th.

Legendary roots/rock musician Rod Clements, the guitarist/songwriter from Lindisfarne and collaborator with Bert Jansch, Ralph McTell, Pentangle, will deliver a rootsy, bluesy night of superior songwriting, slide guitar playing and storytelling on Friday also at the Crown Ballroom.

Rod will be joined for a special double bill by Michael Weston King, one of the UK's true troubadors who combines country, folk, pop and blues in his songwriting and who was described the the Independent as ' a cross between Nick Cave and Rodney Crowell', and by Word Magazine as ' a truly special talent'.

On Saturday afternoon BBC Radio 2's Mark Radcliffe is back by public demand for a special show, of which details are to be announced shortly.
