Mysterious hole in Shropshire Street

A large deep hole suddenly appeared yesterday in Shropshire Street near to the new Co-op, we are told by a correspondent. It had water in the bottom but, to our disappointment, no sign of an otter!

The hole was being repaired this morning. This should add a new dimension to the variety of road surfaces now decorating this much-dug stretch of tarmac.
