Music and Arts Festival May 24th to May 28th

A report on the progress we, The Audlem Festival team- a very small group of men and women whose only aim is to present a successful happening each year, for which their only reward is the satisfaction of a job well done – which we have achieved so far.

The main aim is to raise enough in funding to be able to present this very major event as a totally free event. No charge whatsoever for the 5 days and nights of musical performances with some 90 solos, duos and groups playing and singing for you in the Pubs, New Public Hall Annexe , St James Church and The Methodist Church.
Along with this outpouring of fine music to suit all tastes is a superb Arts Exhibition of mostly local talents which each year receives much praise. Plus the live poetry – with a Poetry Slam and workshops.

All in all a very lively and happy long weekend.

To date we have raised what looks like 75% of the funds needed – either by payment or by promises. The total cost overall is in excess of £16,000 and I can tell you it takes a lot of dedicated work to obtain this large fund.
We have full commitment from the three pubs so far, even though we have a new management for the Bridge Inn and a new brewery owning the Shroppie Fly ( Heineken).

Our glossy programme is nearly complete with over a hundred adverts, notices and detail of the Musical and Arts days . (All print and extra art work being carried out by Joe Sheldon of Audlem Printers )

We have again permission from Eric Callwood for the use of his field for camping during the weekend and we have bookings already for this welcome facility .

Banners and sign will be placed around the village when we are in May .

More news as we get nearer to the date
