Local MP Stephen O'Brien was briefed by local representatives on a number of issues at his surgery meeting on Friday at Audlem Public Hall.
Three issues were raised where action from Government ministers or public bodies is necessary. They were:

  • Ambulance response times and First Responder training
  • The delay by the Ministry of Transport in confirming the removal of the A525 from the Primary Route Network, or 'de-priming.'
  • The lack of response from Climate Change Secretary of State Ed Miliband to a letter sent to him via Stephen O'Brien over two months ago seeking support for the hydro-scheme proposed on the locks through Audlem.
Stephen O'Brien, with Crewe & Nantwich MP Edward Timpson, has been involved in meetings with local campaigners and the ambulance service. All involved want the NWAS to achieve the response times to 999 calls in rural south Cheshire promised by the ambulance service's chief executive a year ago, in September 2008.

A further meeting with the NWAS is planned for next month when it is hoped progress will be made – more on this on Audlem Online shortly.

The Ministry of Transport has been chased about the A525 de-priming and it appears the delay is due to "staff sickness." Pressure will continue!

Ed Miliband's department have now promised a reply "shortly". It's hoped that a response will support a scheme that has been adopted by British Waterways and appears to be an economic way to generate electricity locally for fifty homes.
