Conservative Party Conference
It was a pleasure to attend the 2016 Conservative Party Conference and to hear what plans Prime Minister Theresa May and her Government have for the country. I met with various colleagues, lobbyists and business leaders at the conference and had the opportunity to discuss a range of policy issues that will impact and improve the lives of those living in Eddisbury. At conference I also had the pleasure of meeting with Fabian Picardo, Chief Minister of Gibraltar and enjoyed a productive talk about issues currently affecting the peninsular.

Baby Loss Awareness Week
Last week was Baby Loss Awareness Week, which is recognised around the world as a time to discuss miscarriages, stillbirths, infant death and the bereavement services that parents have access to in such instances. In the UK one in four pregnancies ends in miscarriage and 2014 statistics (for England and Wales) indicate that the annual number of infant deaths and stillbirths is almost 6000. This is a subject that I have long been passionate about and I felt that last week my fellow campaigners and I went a long way to raising awareness of these issues and bringing them into the public consciousness.
As well as holding a reception in the Speaker's apartments, which was attended by the Secretary of State for Health, I made several national media appearances and opened the backbench business debate on the subject which was widely reported by the nation's newspapers and broadcasters.

Rolls-Royce Distributed Generation Systems
It was a pleasure to visit Rolls-Royce's Distributed Generations Systems facility in Winsford. I was given a tour of the factory By Andrew Biggs, Managing Director, Rolls-Royce Distributed Generation Systems and viewed an auxiliary Power Unit (APU) for Ajax armoured fighting vehicle for the British Army as well as a variable speed mobile generator. It was a very good visit to the site, and great to hear about the firm's commitment to engineering in the area. I was particularly pleased to meet some young apprentices from the area and discuss the career opportunities that they now have.

Debate on HS2
I attended the Westminster Hall debate on HS2 in the North West of England. The debate was very well attended by parliamentarians and we had a constructive discourse over how phase two will impact upon the North West. I spoke about how Eddisbury's unique geological landscape makes it unsuitable for the train line to actually go through the constituency and I continue to maintain that it should, in fact, be routed to the east of Eddisbury.

Meeting with Boris Johnson
I met with the Foreign Secretary to discuss a number of policy issues including Britain's withdrawal from the EU, the ongoing war and humanitarian crisis in Syria and the proposed extradition of Lauri Love to the United States. Mr Love has family in the constituency who made me aware of his delicate mental health and I believe that he would be at serious risk were he extradited and forced to leave the country.
