The Big Shave Off, Friday night's conclusion to the 'Movember' moustache growing month, was a resounding success.

As well as the charity monies raised by individual moustache growers through various hair-raising antics over the month, another £139.45 was added to the total at the Lord Combermere as razors saw the stubble removed and participants restored to normality.

Now in its tenth year, and attracting ever more national media attention, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men's faces in the UK and around the world each November.

The aim is to raise vital funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

In a month's time, we have been told on the Chatbox, it's time for the ladies! Fanuary – you can check it out by clicking here is also a global charity event. It's held each January and the aim is to raise awareness of women's health and raises funds for cancer research.

We are not quite sure about the logistics with Fanuary but, if it concludes with a public (spelling checked very carefully here) event anything like last Friday's, it promises to be quite a night in the Lord Combermere!
