The question raised on Sunday about the cutting of the grass and pruning of trees in the conservation area near to the Scout & Guide Hall has attracted a number of comments. One resident says: "Conservation areas in the centre of the village? A good idea, provided they comply to the rules of tidiness. God forbid a blade of grass be out of place!!!!"
Another resident adds: "The answer to the question why the wildlife area at
Churchfields has had the grass mowed and the trees
pruned must be that Audlem has too many busybodies who
cannot leave well alone. Other examples of their work
are the demolition of monuments in the Cemetery and
the replacement of the serviceable old metal street
signs by the rubbishy millennium ones."
